In this workshop by Brazilian collective A Parede, participants were asked to bring one or two human-made artefacts, signifying WORK and LABOUR according to their own, subjective interpretations of these words.
Participants started by unpacking and mapping the networks that inform the existence of these artefacts in the world, with particular focus on colonial power structures followed by speculating on how possible re-contextualisation could alter these relationships, and for whom.
This workshop was part of A Toolkit for the Future – a conference at the V&A followed by day of speculative design workshops at LCF’s project space Arcade East. The project was curated in collaboration with the V&A’s The Future Starts Here exhibition curator Mariana Pestana.
